Business Analyst (ID#4817)


New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Business Analyst to provide expertise and external best practice to contribute to Internet of Things (IoT) strategy and implement IoT solutions effectively. There are several proof of concept and pilot projects that leverage the use of IoT, sensors, advanced infrastructure, communications and networking technology. Some examples include construction site cameras, noise sensors, waste bin level sensors, indoor building space mapping technology, digital twin, energy efficient building technology, flood level monitoring technology etc. The Business Analyst will work closely with IT Business Relationship Manager, IT Project Managers, IT Infrastructure, security engineers, business users, data analysts, and other teams to understand the business requirements and implement IoT and related Data & AI solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Responds to RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, etc., prepare solution diagrams, technical descriptions, and presentation materials for prospective clients
- Documents current/to-be data flow, data governance and process workflow, business requirements in various forms such as Business Requirements Document (BRD), use cases, user scenarios, user stories, service design blueprints, business process maps, functional and technical specifications, etc.
- Ensures documents are catered to the audience and effectively translates business requirements and that documents maintained regularly throughout the project lifecycle
- Using recognized methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) the BA leads and/or collaborates on projects to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes within the organization
- Leads development of current and future state operating models, standard operating procedures and system and functional requirements for process improvement initiatives
- Remains responsible for the solution until it has been made operational in the transition project and ensure an efficient transfer of responsibility to the sustainment teams
- Ascertains business needs related to AI solutions and connects to all sorts of stakeholders, for example, business leaders, data scientists, and software developers to gather insights and understand the objectives as well as the scope of the project
- Translates complex technical information into compelling and easy-to-understand business propositions
- Research IoT, Data and AI vendor solution options as required. Collaborates with data scientists to identify which models best address specific business objectives
- Provides input to cost-benefit analyses on solution options
- Conducts process reviews, process improvement and impact assessment due to system changes or new implementations. Identifies all activities required to support to-be processes
- Supports and contributes to reports or presentations on solution options, status of current and future work activities, work plan, change readiness, UAT, etc.
- Works with project or program team(s) on solution design, ensuring needs and business goals of stakeholders are met throughout the project lifecycle
- Works with business analysts on other projects to identify critical interdependencies
- Plans production readiness activities with stakeholders and project/program managers
- Plans and coordinates user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Lead and/or participate in functional testing of proposed solution
- Monitors project risks and ensure all issues are accurately and timely documented
- Assists with the development of metrics within system related technology and business organizations
Requirements:
- 6+ years of current, relevant experience as a Business Analyst working in a medium to large-sized IT department/organization working with multiple teams of technical staff
- 3+ years of experience with IoT, Digital Infrastructure, Data Analysis, and AI
- Government experience preferred
- Experience with Construction, Real Estate and Public Infrastructure industries is beneficial
- Good knowledge of IT infrastructure best practices and methodologies used for IoT such as Hyperscalers, Edge Computing, Private Wireless Networks, 3G, 4G, 5G etc.
- Stay up-to-date on IoT businesses, embedded systems, data governance, and good data practices to provide better security and performance in this advancing technological world
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Fabric Data Analytics architecture, deployment, and management including a good understanding of data modeling in Fabric or databricks
- Some experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or CSS, embedded systems; network topologies; transport protocols; cloud computing; stream processing; analytics; and application development
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines
- Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams
- Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge, unfamiliar processes, and techniques
- Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including leadership and specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends)
