Security Compliance and Evaluation Specialist (ID#5141)

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented part-time IT Security Compliance and Evaluation Specialist to support a public sector client. The successful candidate will play a critical role in evaluating IT systems, ensuring compliance with security standards, and conducting penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen cybersecurity posture.

This role requires deep expertise in IT auditing, security compliance, and hands-on testing methodologies, with a strong understanding of public sector environments or comparable entities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and conduct IT audits to assess compliance with security policies and standards.
• Perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments using recognized methodologies.
• Document findings and provide actionable recommendations to improve security posture.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure audit readiness and remediation.
• Develop and maintain audit plans, test scripts, and evaluation frameworks.
• Analyze system configurations and access controls for compliance gaps.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with evolving security threats, compliance requirements, and testing tools.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in IT auditing, with at least 5 years in compliance evaluation or penetration testing.
• Proven experience conducting at least 10 IT audits.
• Strong knowledge of penetration testing methodologies such as OWASP or NIST.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Certification such as CISA or CRISC is mandatory.
• Experience working with public sector clients or crown corporations is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
