Data Architect (ID#5174)


New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a part-time Data Architect with advisory/consulting experience to support a major enterprise initiative. This role will provide strategic and technical expertise to guide the organization’s data architecture modernization efforts, enabling better analytics, reporting, AI capabilities, and digital transformation. The consultant will work closely with IT leadership, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders to design modern data frameworks, implement data governance, and recommend solutions that align with organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advisory services to guide BC Transit in the modernization of its data architecture.
- Review and assess the organization’s current data architecture, platforms, and processes.
- Develop and recommend a target state data architecture aligned with the enterprise architecture principles.
- Identify and document gaps and opportunities in current data architecture to support modernization.
- Advise on the selection and implementation of modern data management and integration technologies.
- Provide recommendations for data governance, data quality, and metadata management to support modernization objectives.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, briefings, and documentation for leadership to support decision-making.
- Support the development of a roadmap and actionable steps for implementing the target data architecture.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience as a Data Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Technical Advisor on large-scale modernization initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, data integration, and modernization strategies in enterprise environments.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure Data Services, AWS, GCP) and modern analytics ecosystems.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data modeling, metadata standards, and API integration.
- Ability to create and present executive-level strategy documents, roadmaps, and architecture recommendations.
- Prior experience advising public sector or large organizations on data modernization initiatives (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
