Data Engineer (ID#5079)


New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Data Engineer who will be responsible for enabling and delivering the data platform (e.g., data warehouse) for a project’s analytics use. This includes establishing the end-to-end data for the project’s analytics pipeline including ingesting data from a variety of data sources (e.g., SNOW, Dynatrace, AzDO) and creating datasets for analytics and reporting purposes.
The ideal candidate is a Data Engineer with experience in data architecture and analytic solutions.
Responsibilities:
1. Data Ingestion:
- Ingesting relational, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from on premise, cloud, external, document, and other data sources.
- Monitoring & developing guidelines for data ingestion streams for the project.
2. Data modelling:
- Designing logical data models.
- Centralizing business rules and logic for the purpose of efficient, accurate, and consistent analytics solution delivery.
- Implementing logic, such as calculations, derivations, table relationships, data cleansing and standardization, data mapping and linking, etc. in a way which minimizes future efforts for changes.
- Data modelling and data ingestion experience with one or more of the following products or systems is an asset: ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Dynatrace.
- Blending data from multiple sources into a single information context.
3. Data Quality Assurance:
- Ensure data meets entity an attribute quality requirement.
- Ensure data lineage; ensure standardization for common format data elements.
Requirements:
- Familiar with reporting and analytics tools.
- Advanced SQL skills including stored procedures and data transformation.
- Advanced API integration skills (for data ingestion).
- Expertise in Power Query (M) for data cleansing, transformation, and building reusable dataflows.
- Experience designing optimized data models and star schemas for high-performance reporting.
- Ability to implement row-level security and manage workspace permissions in Power BI Service.
- Skilled in developing interactive dashboards & visualizations tailored to executive and operational needs.
- Advanced DAX skills to create complex measures, calculated tables, and dynamic KPIs.
- Familiarity with performance tuning techniques (aggregations, incremental refresh, query folding).
