New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company is seeking a Database Administrator to help our client design, install and maintain database systems to ensure a high level of data availability.
Responsibilities:
- Installing and maintaining databases.
- Managing backup and recovery processes, system storage, data security and confidentiality.
- Developing database architecture.
- Planning and coordinating data migration between systems.
- Monitoring technical performance of corporate data systems.
- Setting up database encryption.
- Setting up database replication.
- Identifying and resolving data abnormalities.
- Liaising with client departments and applications staff on the delivery of business technology solutions.
- Researching, evaluating and recommending technology solutions related to database and performance measurement tools.
- Managing the deployment of SSIS data pipeline packages.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with on premise SQL Database environments.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques associated with database design and management.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate various data and information requirements and to prepare recommendations regarding the advisability and feasibility of incorporating changes or additions to the corporate data model.
- Ability to establish standards and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, availability and recovery of all data.
- Ability to serve as project manager for a variety of infrastructure and database projects, establish project schedules, assign and guide the work of team members, and monitor progress.
- Experience with data modeling.
- Experience with building data pipelines and ETL processes using SSIS is an asset.
- Experience with database replication, mirroring, and encryption.
- Experience with setting up new Microsoft SQL servers and databases.
- Thorough knowledge of software development methods, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to prepare technical design and write technical specifications.
In addition, this position requires the ability to:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal contacts.
- Provide advice and assistance on matters related to the work.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision, although directions will be given.
- Maintain confidentiality.
