New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Report Specialist to help our client in creating, managing, and optimizing reports to support data-driven decision-making within the Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS) Department. The Report Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams, using emerging technologies like AI and Machine Learning, to enhance data reporting, streamline insights, and improve operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Build, and Test Reports: Create effective, engaging, and visually compelling reports, dashboards, and presentations using tools such as PowerBI, Excel, PowerApps, PowerPoint, and Report Builder.
  • Gather and Validate Requirements: Interview stakeholders to understand problems and opportunities, validate through fast feedback loops, and incorporate insights from observations.
  • Build Data Repository: Develop a departmental data repository with data models for self-service, incorporating data from various sources like Azure DevOps, Dynatrace, ServiceNow, and financial systems.
  • Data Governance: Set up minimum-viable data governance, ensuring security, privacy controls, and adherence to data governance policies.
  • Maintain Solutions: Resolve issues, answer questions, and manage the lifecycle of data, analytics, and reporting solutions.
  • Champion Data Use: Promote the use of data, reporting, and analytics solutions to inform decisions and validate approaches by leading by example.
  • Apply Agile Practices: Deliver incrementally, make work visible, seek early feedback, and participate in team agile events and activities.
  • Evaluate Tools: Participate in the evaluation and selection of analytics and reporting software development languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • External Representation: Represent WorkSafeBC and the Division with external stakeholders and agencies as required.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up with emerging trends and technologies, leveraging them when applicable.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties, ad hoc assignments, and participate in special projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and data presentation tools like PowerBI, Excel, PowerApps, PowerPoint, and Report Builder.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and data-savvy mindset with the ability to build compelling stories using data.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to present complex data in visually engaging and actionable formats.
  • Data Governance: Knowledge of security, privacy, and data governance policies.
  • Agile Practices: Experience with agile practices and iterative development.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work with stakeholders to gather requirements and validate solutions.
  • Adaptability: Stay informed of emerging trends and technologies and apply them when relevant.

The hourly rate range for this position is $70 – $95, with the final rate based on consultant experience and fit for the role.
