Strategic Planning Consultant (ID#4864)

New Value Solutions, a national IT and business consulting company, is seeking a Strategic Planning Consultant to lead the development of a 3-5 year strategic plan for a public library organization. This role involves facilitating the planning process, engaging key stakeholders, and providing expert guidance to ensure the long-term sustainability, community impact, and effective resource allocation of the library system. The successful candidate will bring an outside perspective to inform decision-making, guide the process in a timely manner, and help align the organization’s vision and goals with the evolving needs of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an environmental scan to assess the public library organization’s current position and identify opportunities for improvement within the community.
  • Facilitate engagement sessions with key stakeholders, including library staff, patrons, donors, community partners, and local government.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategic plan that includes mission, vision, core values, strategic priorities, objectives, and resource allocation.
  • Provide clear recommendations for community engagement, program development, and effective use of resources.
  • Create an implementation plan with timelines, milestones, and guidance on evaluating progress.
  • Advise on evaluation processes to monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to respond to changing community needs.
  • Assist with aligning the public library organization’s staff and branches around a shared vision for the future.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in strategic planning, ideally within the library or non-profit sectors.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills with experience in engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop actionable plans that align with the mission and goals of public library organizations.
  • Experience with creating long-term strategies and evaluation frameworks to ensure success and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects within specified timelines and budget constraints.
